International Flights To Myanmar
Yangon International Airport (Mingalardon Airport) is the main International Airports in Myanmar. Yangon has direct air links with Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Calcutta, Chiang Mai, Taipei, Kunming, Guangzhou, Siem Reap and Hanoi.
By Overland:
Overland entry with a Border Pass is permitted at the following Border Check Points: Tachileik and Kawthaung on the Myanmar-Thai border and Muse on the Myanmar-Yunnan (China) border.
Foreigner and non-resident can bring into Myanmar any foreign currency not in excess of US $ 2,000 , or its equivalent without making a declaration to the Customs on arrival.
All foreign currencies, jewellery, electrical goods and cameras must be declared to the Customs at the airport.
Exports of antique and archaeologically valuable items are prohibited. Only gems, jewellery and silverware purchased at the authorized shops are allowed to be taken out.
No vaccinations are officially required for a visit to Myanmar, but malaria prophylaxis is recommended.
Visitors may bring in any amount of foreign currency but it must be declared to the Customs if it exceeds US$ 2,000. Jewelry, electrical goods and cameras must be declared at the port of entry. Export of antiques and archeologically valuable objects are prohibited.
The currency is kyat pronounced (chat) and is divided into 100 pyas. At present, the following kyat bank notes are in general use: K 1, K 5, K 10, K 20, K 50, K 100, K 200, K 500, K 1000 and K 5000.

Only major hotels will accept credit cards or travelers' chaques. Most commercial transactions are done in cash, so bring cash to avoid any disappointments. Also US dollars are easier of exchange than other currencies. Cash can be withdrawn from credit card accounts of Visa or American Express, but this service is available only in Yangon.
The basic Myanmar Food is mainly rice and curry. Mohinga, rice noodles with fish gravy, Ohn-No-Khaukswe, noodles with chicken in coconut milk, are popular Myanmar dishes for breakfast and snack meals. Myanmar seafood-Crabs, prawns, lobsters and other shellfish are among the popular dishes available at most Myanmar and Chinese restaurants in Yangon and in other parts of the country. Other Asian foods include Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean and Singapore-style. European food is served mostly at the hotels and there are a couple of restaurants in Yangon serving Italian food.
Myanmar is a country of teashops and there are several fast food centres and snack bars in all destinations.
Myanmar has a variety of vegetables and fruits, both tropical and citrus all year round or seasonally. The most common ones are avocado, banana, durian, jackfruit, grapefruit, grapes, mango, mangosteen, orange, papaya, pomelo, pineapple, watermelon and Washington navel.
Bogyoke Market (Scott Market)
Located in Yangon, it was formerly called Scott Market named after Mr. Jarvin Scott, Yangon Municipal commissioners, during the British Colonial Government. When Myanmar became independent in 1948, the name was changed to bogyoke Aung San Market as the honor to the national leader Bogyoke Aung San. This is the only place from those who likes hopping local products such as Lacquerwares, Silverwears, Sculptures, Jewelleries and souvenirs of the entire of Myanmar.
Shopping in Mandalay
Among the Mandalay market, Zegyo Market is the most popular to shop luxury goods, cloths, Silk ,electronics, shoes, baby stuff and more as well as for jewellery and handicrafts such as silver and gold embroidery. Nowadays, Myanmar tapestry has become an attraction for tourists from abroad and there is a wide range of objects in gold embroidery. This art has opened up employment opportunities for women with a skill and talent for needlework.
Shopping in Bagan
The local typical market of Nyaung U is one of the most favoured markets of the city. The market sells things that one require in their daily life. The market is one of the ideal place to buy handicrafts, fresh meats and vegetables of varied types. Lacquerware is one of the significant traditional crafts of the country. Most of the lacquerware are made in the city of Bagan itself. There are many shops selling these artworks. Lacquerware is made mostly and best quality in Bagan. It is the main product of Bagan as well as the product of foreign market. Foreign visitors interest and like lacquer because of hand making. There are many shops and stores located outside the different temples of the city. There are many paintng shops selling paintings made of acrylic and the other one is made on sand. Shopping in Bagan is a wonderful experience for all.
