The InlePhaungDawOo Pagoda Festival is one of the most famous pagoda festivals in Myanmar and the PHAUNG DAW OO Festival is the biggest and most important occasion in the SHAN State. Four Buddha Images are taken around the lake in a gilded barge pulled by hundreds of leg-rowers in long canoes in front.

 During the festival, each village greets the four images with fanfare and celebrates every moment of the one-night stopover. Rowing Competitions may be coinciding within your visit. Shan dances and martial arts in each special ceremonial boat. On two specific dates of the festival period, there are boats racing competitions a splendid and most exciting moment as the teams representing various villages around the lake use their skills and strength to win the race. Many are from the plains, some from the mountains, while others are from small remote villages but everybody is here to gain merit and enjoy the festive air of the event. 

The festival is held with great magnificence and pageantry fun fairs and dances are also held. The holy images of the Buddha from PhaungdawOo Pagoda are placed on a decorated royal barge called Karaweik (Mythical Bird) and towed by leg-rowers around the Lake, stopping at each village to let people pay homage. The pagoda festivals are held for each pagoda and there festivals could be viewed as the Myanmar equivalent of western fun fairs. In a pagoda festival, one can find food stalls, toy shops selling sundry consumer goods, magic show, puppet shows and dramas. People young and old simply love to have a stroll around the place where there is pagoda festival. PhaungdawOo Pagoda festival begins on 1st Waning of Thadingyut every year in Myanmar month but closing day may be different according to the decision of the members of the Pagoda Associations. The unique and most interesting event of the festival is, of course, the Shan traditional boat races participated by leg-rowers of both men and women dressed in their national costumes. By visiting PhaungdawOo Pagoda festival one has chance of seeing the different races of Myanmar Nationalities, such as, Danu, Inntha, Pa-O, Shan, Palaung, Kachin, TaungYoe and son on. Among them especially Shan people are very generous and so pious in Buddhism. They are so keen to religious that their names are quite similar to that of novice or a Buddhist monk. Secondly, one may have chance of viewing the very scenic beauty of Inle Lake and its environments and their traditions and customs which on can hardly be found anywhere else. Moreover one could have chance to see the Shan people traditional dances and their peculiar type of music drums, flutes, bras and bronze and such is their physical grace and personal charm.

 13Oct’13        : Arrival Yangon (,D)

Our guide will meet you at Yangon International Airport and transfer to hotel. After check in, We will start visit down town area where you can see City Hall ,Pansodan Street (Colonial Buildings) and Nanthida Jetty to study local ways of life . Then proceed to ChaukHtutKyiBuddha( reclining Image )and world famous Shwedagon Pagoda (Golden Stupa,326ft high with 4 relics of four Buddha enshrine, 2600 years old). Overnight at Hotel.

 14Oct’13         : Yangon-Bagan By Flight (B,,D)

 Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to Bagan (the birthplace of Myanmar civilization. This 11 century capital is one of the richest archeological sites in Asia). Visit NyaungOo Market, Shwezigon Pagoda, Gubyaukgyi Temple (Wetkyiinn), Ananda Temple &Oakkyaung, Sarabha Gate. Evening sightseeing including Gubyaukgyi Temple(Myinkaba) , Manuha&Nanphaya Temple, Dhamanyangyi Temple, Sulamani Temple, Htilominlo Temple, and Sunset at Shwesandaw Pagoda. Overnight at hotel.

Dinner: Local Restaurant.

 15 Oct’13        :Bagan-Mt.Popa-Bagan By Car (B,,D)

 Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Mt. Popa (Extinct Volcano)as well as Oasis of the dry zone. Enjoy the Panoramic view at the top of the hill. Soft trekking, Drive back to Bagan. Overnight at hotel.

Dinner: Local Restaurant .

 16Oct’13         : Bagan-Mandalay By Flight (B,,D)

 Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport flight to Mandalay (Myanmar ‘s second largest city, the last Kingdom of Myanmar). Arrive and visit Mahamuni Buddha Image (Exalted Saint Buddha Image heavily gilded with gold leaf brought over from Arakan State in 1784), Stone Carving, Wood Carving and Bronze Casting Workshop. Royal Palace, Kuthodaw Pagoda (the world biggest book), ShweKyaung (Built with Teak Wood Carving).Kyauktawgyi Pagoda and sunset at Mandalay Hill (230 meters in elevation, commands a panoramic view of the city and surrounding countryside.)Overnight at hotel.

Dinner: Local restaurant.

 17Oct’13         : Mandalay-Mingun- Sagaing-Mandalay (B,,D)

 Breakfast at hotel. Excursion to Mingun by Boat, visit Pa HtoDawGyi (Unfinished Magnificent Temple); Mingun Bell (World Biggest Ringing Bell about 90 ton); World Biggest Lions (Ancient Ruined); MyaThein Tan Pagoda. Proceed to Sagaing. Visit KaungHmuDawPagoda(Built in 1636), UminThonese Pagoda sunset at U Bein’s Bridge (World Longest Teak bridge of 200 years old). Evening back to Mandalay.

Dinner: Local Restaurant.

 18Oct’13         : Mandalay-Heho-Inle By Flight (B,,D)

 Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to Heho. Arrive Heho airport and drive to Inle lake (nestled amidst hazy blue mountains is the beautiful Inle Lake 900 meter above sea level,22 km long and 10 km across, has a population of some 150,000, many of whom live on floating islands of vegetation. )where you can study Inthar tribes’ and their ways of life. After check in at hotel ,boat trip to Inle Lake sightseeing including PhaungDawOo Pagoda (Holly 5 Buddha Images); Floating Gardens & Plantation, Bird Watching, Cheroot Making, Silversmith, NgaPheChaung Monastery ( Jumping Cats). Overnight at hotel.

Dinner: Hotel.

 19Oct’13         : Festival Sightseeing (B,,D)

 Breakfast at hotel. After breakfast , Early morning boat trip to Lake Inle and enjoy festival activities (Boat racing , Shan traditional dance , local people ways of life). Overnight at hotel.

 20Oct’13         :Inle-Heho-Yangon By Flight (B,,D)

 Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport and flight to Yangon. Arrive and enjoy shopping at colorful Bogyoke Market,where can buy cloths, bags, shoes, souvenir, Jewelries made by Ruby, Sapphire , Emerald ,Jade etc. Overnight at hotel.
